Fire Safety is At the Heart of What We Do

An Industry Born from Hidden Dangers

At Dryer Vent Wizard, our franchise business owners and their teams repair and replace dryer vents every single day. However, our business is about more than just ensuring our clients have a functional laundry room. No one knows the dangers of improperly-vented dryers better than we do. In fact, it’s because we know the hazards so well that our franchise owners are eager to educate their local communities on the importance of fire prevention and safety.

A Clean Vent Helps Make a Safer Home

Most people know maintaining a clean dryer vent allows a dryer to run efficiently. But what is perhaps less well known is that a clean and code-compliant dryer vent is one of the best ways to keep a home or business safe. According to the National Fire Protection Association, there are more than 15,000 dryer fires each year in the U.S. alone. Many of these fires are the result of dirty, clogged, or improperly installed dryer vents. These fires can result in injuries, deaths, and millions of dollars in property damage every year.

Going Beyond Fire Safety

Another lesser-known fact is that dryer fires are only one of the hazards associated with clogged or dirty dryer vents. Improperly-vented dryers are also a breeding ground for unwanted pests, mold, and mildew. Any of these problems can risk inviting disease and serious health problems into a home, threatening the safety and well-being of its occupants. This is particularly risky if anyone in the home is already susceptible to respiratory or other health issues. In the face of such a grim reality, our franchise owners know the work we do can help save homes and, in turn, lives.

In addition to this vital work, we like to give back and spread public awareness of dirty dryer vents in other ways, too. For example, each fall, Dryer Vent Wizard donates to the Children’s Burn Foundation. This nonprofit organization provides medical and psychological treatment to children suffering from injuries or trauma as a result of fire. The foundation also offers fire safety and fire prevention education courses for parents, children, and caregivers. As part of our job to prevent dryer fires, we have a longstanding relationship with the foundation, fundraising to support the wonderful community resources they provide and raising awareness about the dangers of preventable household fires.

Fire Safety is at the Heart of What We Do

Another great way our franchise owners and home office staff give back is by working with local fire departments. We regularly participate in fire station open house events, work with our firefighters to help educate our neighbors about fire prevention and safety, and provide them with annual grants. Each year, franchise owners across the country nominate a local fire department for our annual grant program. These grants help our local fire departments to develop and carry out essential fire prevention programs and services.

At Dryer Vent Wizard, giving back is an important part of our business and our culture. As a franchise owner, you will have many opportunities to grow a successful business while making a real difference in the wellbeing and safety of your neighbors and community. Our franchise owners are on a mission to help make each neighborhood safer – one dryer vent at a time.
